TERMS:
This position is a 260 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Vacation, personal business days, holidays, and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).
SALARY RANGE:
This position is on the nonunion, salary Grade R Scale, $58,770.61-$77,389.23.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:
The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator administers MAISD employee benefit enrollments, status changes, and benefit terminations for a large variety of MAISD staff groups. This position performs critical benefit administration functions with multiple computerized/electronic systems. This position assists with other functions within the department and is in charge of the Registry of Educational Personnel (REP) for the MAISD.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Serves as the MAISD Benefits Coordinator for MAISD employee health benefits elections and maintenance.
- Coordinates yearly open enrollment process for MAISD staff.
- Performs all assigned benefit administration functions according to established standards as required by State and Federal regulations (ACA and others).
- Files, tracks, and maintains Worker’s Compensation claims and unemployment claims.
- Works with MAISD staff regarding employee leaves of absence, such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
- This person works with the finance department regarding staff leaves, benefits changes, unemployment, and more.
- Completes the monthly and biannual reporting of the Registry of Educational Personnel (REP).
- Applies for day-to-day substitute and Annual Authorizations for MAISD programs needing these.
- Verifies that credentials/licenses of certified staff are current and sends reports to management. (Admin, Teachers etc.)
- Provides assistance to the Associate Superintendent for Human Services with special projects and assignments.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate's Degree or higher in General Business/Finance, Human Resources Management, Accounting, Medical Office Billing and Coding, or a related area of study.
- Experience with employee benefits such as healthcare benefits, ancillary benefits, workers’ compensation, unemployment, and other human resource benefit operations.
- Demonstrated proficiency with data entry systems, a variety of spreadsheet functions, word processing, Microsoft and Google Suite, and experience with computerized accounting and recordkeeping systems.
- Evidence of organizational efficiency and effective communication skills.
- No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Human Resources Information Systems and Payroll Systems (MUNIS and Red Rover).
- At least two years of successful experience with benefit management in a human service agency work environment.
- Basic accounting experience related to employee HR operations.

NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator may occasionally be required to lift light to moderately heavy supplies and materials.

This position is on Grade R of the MAISD salary scales.
