The Collections Internship offers applicants an understanding of collections management and curatorial research in a museum environment. Interns will gain experience in proper object handling methods, housing, and the documentation of collections through cataloging and digitization. Other projects may include research within the collection and learning about standard museum policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Improving and adding catalog database information
- Digitizing collections
- Object inventory
- Curatorial research and label writing
- Assisting with registrar work in the following areas: acquisitions, documentation, preservation and protection, access, and use of the collection
- Undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Museum Studies, History, or related field.
- Must currently be enrolled in or a recent graduate from a college or university
- Must be highly sensitive to the necessity of confidentiality
- Must be extremely detail-oriented
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Possess the ability to see projects through to completion
- Ability to work well both with others and independently
- Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy objects
- Ability to crouch, climb, balance, sit, and stand for long periods of time
- Ability to safely handle and transport artifacts
- Familiarity with database programs like Excel or museum collections database programs
- Basic knowledge of history and/or an interest in museum studies preferred
- Some experience/knowledge of digital photography and/or previous office or museum experiences
- Data Management and Ability to Prioritize
- Physical demands:
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to crouch, climb, balance, sit, and stand for long periods of time
