About the Opportunity
Muncie Equipment Rentals is a growing, locally owned equipment rental company serving Muncie and the surrounding communities. As our rental fleet and customer base continue to grow, we're looking for a dependable and motivated Equipment Delivery Driver / Equipment Hauler to work with our team.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys driving, working around trucks and equipment, performing basic mechanical work, and being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk.
You'll be responsible for delivering and retrieving rental equipment from residential and commercial job sites, assisting with routine maintenance and inspections, and providing professional service to our customers.
This is a 1099 independent contractor position, and Muncie Equipment Rentals provides the truck and trailer used for company deliveries and pickups.
What You'll Do
- Deliver and pick up rental equipment throughout Muncie and surrounding areas
- Safely load, unload, secure, and transport equipment
- Tow equipment trailers using company-provided trucks and trailers
- Perform routine maintenance on rental equipment
- Assist with oil changes, greasing, fluid checks, filters, batteries, tires, and other basic preventative maintenance
- Perform basic equipment inspections and identify potential maintenance or repair issues
- Check equipment condition before and after rentals
- Take required photos and document equipment condition
- Communicate with customers regarding deliveries and pickups
- Communicate with the office regarding scheduling, delays, equipment issues, or job-site concerns
- Safely operate skid steers, excavators, lifts, trailers, and other rental equipment when necessary
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when interacting with customers
- Help keep trucks, trailers, equipment, and the rental yard organized and presentable
- Follow company procedures for transportation, equipment care, and customer service

What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate is dependable, mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, professional, and comfortable working independently.
You should have:
- A valid driver's license
- A clean or acceptable driving record
- Experience towing and backing trailers
- Strong communication skills
- Good judgment and attention to safety
- A dependable work ethic
- Ability to work independently and stay on schedule
- Professional customer-service skills
- Ability to use a smartphone for calls, texts, photos, and job information
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with loading, securing, inspecting, and maintaining equipment
- Basic mechanical knowledge or a willingness to learn routine equipment maintenance
No CDL is required.
Experience with construction equipment, skid steers, excavators, dump trailers, equipment trailers, diesel equipment, mechanical work, or equipment rental is a plus.
Compensation
This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity.
Typical earnings are $800–$1,200 per week, depending on available workload, completed deliveries, maintenance work, performance, and applicable incentives.
Muncie Equipment Rentals provides the company truck and trailer needed for equipment deliveries and pickups.
Additional earning opportunities are available through our delivery incentive and bonus programs.
