ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST – CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Location: Murrieta, CA
Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 annually DOE

We are seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our accounting team and support a variety of accounting, payroll, compliance, and administrative functions within a construction environment.
This is not a traditional Accounts Payable position. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working across multiple areas of accounting and business operations while supporting a fast-paced organization. Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAccounts Payable
- Process vendor and subcontractor invoices
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation
- Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain vendor files, W-9s, and supporting documentation
- Assist with vendor compliance requirements
Payroll & Compliance Support
- Assist with weekly payroll processing
- Provide backup support for payroll functions
- Assist with certified payroll reporting
- Support union reporting and fringe benefit administration
- Assist with labor compliance documentation and reporting
Construction Accounting Support
- Assist with contract administration and project documentation
- Track insurance certificates and compliance requirements
- Support lien release collection and retention tracking
- Assist with project closeout documentation
- Support project accounting and job cost functions as needed
Accounting & Administrative Support
- Reconcile company credit cards and expense reports
- Assist with month-end accounting activities
- Maintain electronic and physical filing systems
- Support audit requests and documentation gathering
- Perform various accounting and administrative projects as assigned
Reporting & Process Improvement
- Create and maintain Excel spreadsheets and reports
- Assist with process documentation and SOP development
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and workflow
- Support accounting system and process improvement initiatives
QualificationsRequired
- 3 years of accounting, accounts payable, bookkeeping, payroll, project accounting, or related financial experience
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Preferred
- Construction industry experience
- Experience with Sage 300 CRE or similar accounting software
- Experience with certified payroll, prevailing wage, or union reporting
- Experience with project accounting or job costing
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
Technical Skills
Preferred experience with:
- Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, reporting)
- Sage 300 CRE
- Adobe Acrobat or Bluebeam
- Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams
