QUALIFICATIONS
- Profession of Christian faith.
- Ability to read music.
- Ability to play piano or organ.
- Ability to sing preferred.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Skills in oral and written communication.
- Organizational skills.

DUTIES
- Direct choir and conduct weekly practices (Day of the week is chosen at the Music Director's discretion).
- Meet with Pastor and Worship Committee as needed; plan music ministry for the church, agree on Order of Worship Service, select hymns, select special music as appropriate.
- Plan and organize approved music and hymns before each weeknight practice.
- Have several approved choices ready at each weeknight practice, and provide to support staff and volunteers.
- Prepare and conduct Easter and Christmas cantatas.
- Invite and encourage participation in choir; recruit new choir members.
- Help with music for Vacation Bible School and Christmas Play as applicable.
- Order new music as needed within set budget and maintain in an organized file.
- Organize Special Music on various Sundays with prior approval of Pastor and Worship Committees.
- Work with Worship Committee and Pastor to select and prepare special music for Special Services such as Holy Week, Easter Sunrise, Christmas Eve, Revival, and/or Fifth Sundays as applicable.
- Serve as church pianist or organist as needed.
- Work and coordinate with other music ministries of the church as appropriate.
NOTE: Participation in weddings and funerals is not a requirement and it is not the responsibility of the Music Director to initiate contact with a family. The Music Director may choose to participate when contacted and asked to do so by a family. Request for compensation is appropriate.
VACATION:
Two weeks paid vacation are approved. Vacation dates should be planned as much in advance as possible and shared with the Worship Committee Chair or Designee. The Music Director shall work with the Worship Committee to procure a substitute. Whenever possible, the Music Director should practice with choir prior to absences. Additional requests for leave shall be negotiated with the Worship Committee and must be approved by the Staff Pastor Parrish Relations (SPPR) Committee.
SICKNESS:
Notify chair of Worship Committee and SPPR, or other designee per directors of Worship Committee, as soon as it is known that service participation will not be possible so a substitute can be procured. If illness is extended or frequent, the Music Director shall meet and discuss the situation with the SPPR Committee.
BACKGROUND CHECK:
Applicants must supply required information for a background check to be satisfactorily completed prior to employment.
REPORTS TO: The SPPR Committee is responsible for hiring, interim performance reviews, and yearly evaluation. The Worship Committee will oversee program planning on an ongoing basis.
SALARY: TBD based on experience and needs.
