Position Overview:
The Cultivation Tech - Gardener is responsible for supporting the daily care, maintenance, and production of cannabis plants throughout all stages of growth. This role focuses on plant health, quality control, and adherence to cultivation best practices to ensure consistent, high-quality yields.
Working under the direction of the Cultivation Manager or Lead Grower, the Cultivation Technician performs hands-on plant care tasks, assists with harvest activities, and maintains accurate plant tracking in accordance with Montana cannabis regulations. This position requires attention to detail, physical stamina, teamwork, and a strong commitment to compliance and quality standards within a regulated cultivation environment.
The Cultivation Technician plays a critical role in achieving production targets while maintaining a clean, organized, and compliant grow facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform daily plant care tasks including watering, feeding, pruning, training, transplanting, and defoliation
- Assist with cloning, propagation, and vegetative plant maintenance
- Monitor plant health and identify signs of pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, or environmental stress
- Assist with implementation of integrated pest management (IPM) programs
- Support harvest activities including plant cutting, bucking, and transport of harvested material
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of cultivation rooms, tools, and equipment in accordance with company and regulatory standards
- Mix and apply nutrients, fertilizers, and approved plant treatments according to established procedures
- Assist with environmental monitoring including temperature, humidity, lighting, and irrigation systems
- Maintain accurate plant tracking and recordkeeping within state-mandated seed-to-sale tracking systems
- Assist with moving plants between growth stages and cultivation rooms
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cultivation processes and compliance requirements
- Assist with inventory counts of plants, cultivation supplies, and nutrients
- Report plant health concerns, equipment issues, or environmental irregularities to cultivation leadership
- Support cultivation facility maintenance including cleaning, organizing, and restocking supplies
- Maintain compliance with Montana cannabis regulations and company policies regarding plant handling, tracking, and security
- Work collaboratively with cultivation, harvest, and compliance teams to meet production goals and quality standards
- Participate in ongoing training related to cultivation techniques, compliance updates, and safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and work within cultivation areas for extended periods of time, often for full work shifts
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation, including plants, soil, irrigation equipment, and cultivation supplies
- Ability to perform repetitive motions including planting, transplanting, watering, trimming, pruning, harvesting, and cleaning cultivation areas
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, and climb step stools or ladders as needed to access plants and equipment
- Ability to maintain manual dexterity and fine motor skills for trimming, cloning, plant training, and detailed plant care tasks
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and lighting conditions, including indoor grow rooms, greenhouses, or outdoor cultivation sites
- Ability to work around cannabis plant material, fertilizers, pesticides, and cultivation-related chemicals in accordance with safety protocols
- Ability to visually inspect plants for health, pests, disease, nutrient deficiencies, and overall quality
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, protective eyewear, masks or respirators, protective clothing, and other safety gear as required
- Ability to work in environments with strong cannabis odors, airborne particulates, and cultivation-related scents
- Ability to safely operate cultivation tools and equipment including irrigation systems, trimming tools, environmental control systems, and harvesting equipment
- Ability to perform cleaning and sanitation tasks in cultivation areas in accordance with company and regulatory standards
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while completing plant care, recordkeeping, and production tasks
- Ability to comply with workplace safety procedures and Montana cannabis handling and security requirements
