Per Diem School Custodian

Job Summary

MSL Corporate Cleaning Services is seeking dependable and detail-oriented individuals for a Per Diem School Custodian position. This role involves providing custodial and cleaning services at school facilities on an as-needed basis.

A Per Diem employee serves as a substitute or backup team member, covering shifts when regular staff members are unavailable due to vacations, sick leave, personal leave, training, or other absences. Work schedules are not fixed and are assigned based on the staffing needs of the school and MSL Corporate Cleaning Services.

This position is ideal for individuals seeking flexible work opportunities and who are available to accept assignments as needed. The ideal candidate is reliable, adaptable, and committed to maintaining a clean, safe, and professional environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Schedule:

• As needed based on staffing requirements.
• Most assignments occur Monday through Friday.
• Hours and locations may vary depending on coverage needs.

Duties

• Perform cleaning tasks throughout the school premises, including classrooms, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, and common areas.
• Conduct routine janitorial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to uphold hygiene standards.
• Utilize floor care equipment for buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors to maintain a professional appearance.
• Assist with light maintenance tasks including minor repairs and troubleshooting facilities issues.
• Support industrial cleaning efforts when necessary, including cleaning large areas or specialized equipment.
• Follow safety protocols during all custodial activities to ensure a hazard-free environment.
• Maintain cleaning supplies inventory and notify management when supplies need replenishing.

Requirements

• Prior experience in custodial work or janitorial services is preferred; experience in commercial or industrial cleaning is a plus.
• Knowledge of floor care techniques such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors.
• Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and operating cleaning equipment safely.
• Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and proper handling procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Excellent time management skills with the ability to work independently in a flexible schedule.
