Job Summary
MS Companies is supporting an automotive manufacturing client in Vance, Alabama in the search for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer for a short-term contract assignment. This role will support plant quality systems, audits, supplier concerns, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have strong automotive quality experience, be comfortable working cross-functionally, and have a solid understanding of core quality tools and plant processes.
Required Skills & Qualifications
● Prior experience in automotive manufacturing
● Bachelor’s degree in a related field
● Strong knowledge of quality engineering principles and quality assurance terminology
● Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, Process Flows, and corrective actions
● Experience supporting audits, inspections, and calibration systems
● Ability to analyze quality data and communicate findings clearly
● Strong problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment
● Ability to work effectively with suppliers, supervisors, and cross-functional plant teams
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
● Experience supporting IATF audits and internal audit activity
● Experience with APiS, SQTS, and LQTS systems
● Knowledge of PPAP, GR&R, and capability studies
● Experience with 5-Phase, 8D, and root cause corrective action processes
● Experience with kaizen and continuous improvement initiatives
● Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles
● Experience supporting supplier containment and quality issue resolution
● Exposure to lab activities, product audits, and prelaunch quality requirements
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
● Maintain calibration records and verify quality equipment and gauges meet requirements
● Support internal audits, IATF readiness, and weekly audit scheduling
● Maintain and update Control Plans, Process Flows, and PFMEAs with cross-functional teams
● Review quality data and report process trends, nonconformances, and corrective actions
● Lead or support problem-solving activities related to plant, supplier, and customer quality issues
● Perform GR&R studies, capability studies, and monthly torque capability reporting
● Support containment, supplier complaints, and timely closure of quality notifications
● Help drive continuous improvement projects focused on reducing scrap, COPQ, and quality concerns
Physical & Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing plant environment and may require walking the production floor, standing for extended periods, and working closely with production, quality, and supplier-related activities.
