Chief Estimator

Highland Consulting Group, a construction specific recruiting firm specializing in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions, is conducting a Confidential search for a Chief Estimator for a mechanical contractor on Long Island, NY. This position will lead the department and be responsible for training, managing and bid accountability.Key Responsibilities:Will be responsible for overseeing the estimating processes and estimating team to meet company goals and customer deadlines.Will prepare, review and sign off on estimates and bids prior to submitting them to the customer.Will oversee the cost databases for improved estimating accuracy.Will train and mentor the estimating team.Will work with vendors to obtain best pricing.Will lead department meetings to review open bid status.Will prepare/create individual bids.Qualifications:10 years of estimating experience in commercial mechanical construction (HVAC, piping and controls). A minimum of 4 years leading an estimating department managing up to 5 team members.Experience estimating mechanical construction projects of up to $10 million.Ability to develop budgets, establish timelines, and produce accurate cost estimates.Experience with negotiated and plan-and-spec estimates.Computer software proficiency using Excel for estimating.A four-year degree in construction management or a related field is preferred but not required.Salary range for this role is from $150,000.00 to $185,000.00 depending upon experience.Benefits:This company cares about and is committed to the well-being of its employees and their families.
