Responsibilities And Job Duties
- Collect trash, recyclables, hazardous waste, scrap metal, and other waste streams throughout the plant and transport them to disposal containers or storage rooms.
- Segregate, sort, and package waste streams for off-site shipment in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
- Load semi-trailers and roll-off boxes for shipment to landfills, recycling centers, and other disposal sites.
- Perform and document daily equipment inspections prior to use.
- Clean and maintain the organization and compliance of the 90-day Accumulation Area, including sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and labeling drums.
- Assist the supervisor in responding to chemical spill incidents by placing adsorbents on liquids, sweeping or vacuuming solids, and containerizing cleaned-up materials for proper disposal.
- Assist the Total Waste Manager with daily supply delivery, waste pick-up, and waste organization.
- Perform inspections of waste storage areas and emergency equipment, taking corrective action to eliminate deficiencies identified during inspections.
- Inventory and inspect waste spill kits.
- Document and inform the Total Waste Manager of any contamination in the plant’s recycling and waste containers.
- Maintain and complete necessary documentation of waste inventories, inspections, and other required activities.
- Operate a fork truck to load and unload trucks.
- Operate a burden carrier.
- Follow all plant-related safety guidelines.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the manager.
- High School Diploma.
- One-year experience in waste management.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to pass a drug test.
- 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certified.
- RCRA/DOT Certified.
- Forklift Operation License.
