What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dispatcher position at MOUNTAIN TRANSIT AUTHORITY?
- Answer phones, direct calls to staff as needed, and check voice mail daily.
- Greet visitors to the office.
- Sale bus passes and tickets as needed. Track ticket money and document all purchases.
- Operates radio communication with transit vehicles.
- Receive and document complaints and forward them to the General Manager. Mobility Officer or Route Supervisor.
- Act as first point of contact during an emergency (traffic accident) and contact appropriate management personnel and local emergency personnel if needed.
- Must be knowledgeable of MTA safety policies and procedures (once hired).
- Must be punctual; must excel in time management.
- Direct all routes and inform all drivers on route of scheduled and call-in pickups.
- Must follow all ADA, Drug and Alcohol Requirements.
- Provide as first contact with possible new job applicants.
- Must log in all trips and telephone calls daily for all routes. Must keep all calls and trips per month in a file for future reports.
- Receive and answer emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Proactively address problems and suggest solutions.
- Receive and dispatch orders.
- Assess the situation and prioritize calls.
- Oversee the route of field units and track delivery status of passengers.
- Coordinate schedule in the most effective manner.
- Inform field units about orders and traffic.
- Track and update call logs and data.
- Provide reports to upper management.
- Must interact with passengers mostly via telephone to schedule reservations.
- Receive, relay, and/or transmit dispatch information for public transportation in the most efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
- Maintain logs of radio transmissions, telephone calls, and other pertinent information and facts.
- Maintain STICT confidentiality.
- Any other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
- This is a safety sensitive position and must follow all Drug and Alcohol Program Requirements.
