Overview
The Manufacturing Supervisor is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing daily shop floor operations, ensuring production goals are met efficiently while maintaining high-quality standards. This role requires a strong understanding of machining, workflow optimization, and team leadership. The Supervisor will work closely with the Department Leads, Process Engineer, CNC Programmers, and Operators to ensure seamless production flow, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and maintain a proactive approach to problem-solving. This position also partners closely with the Planning/Scheduling and Commercial teams to execute production priorities, balance customer demand with available capacity, and ensure customer commitments are met while supporting new business opportunities without compromising existing delivery performance.

This individual must foster a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement, ensuring that employees are following standard operating procedures (SOPs), seeking assistance when needed, and maintaining a safe, organized, and productive work environment. The Manufacturing Supervisor is also responsible for managing personnel, tracking production performance, implementing solutions that drive overall operational success, and serving as a key cross-functional leader to align manufacturing execution with business objectives and on-time delivery goals

Duties

· Supervise and coordinate daily manufacturing activities to ensure on-time delivery and production efficiency.

· Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive steps to keep production moving smoothly.

· Ensure employees are actively engaged in production tasks and asking for assistance when encountering challenges, rather than struggling for extended periods.

· Oversee the scheduling of machines, personnel, and resources to optimize production capacity.

· Partner with the Planning/Scheduling and Commercial teams to execute the production schedule while meeting customer expectations and delivery commitments.

· Balance production priorities to support new business opportunities while minimizing the impact on existing customer orders and maintaining on-time delivery performance.

· Identify capacity constraints, production risks, and schedule conflicts, communicating proactively with cross-functional teams to develop solutions before customer commitments are impacted.

· Participate in daily production and scheduling meetings, ensuring shop floor activities align with business priorities and shipment goals.

· Communicate regularly with the Manufacturing Manager, Commercial Team, Quality Team, and Engineering Team to address production issues, adjust priorities, and implement process improvements.

Personnel Leadership & Development

• Lead, train, and mentor a team of 50–80 production employees, including CNC machinists, operators, and support staff.
• Set clear performance expectations, monitor employee progress, and provide constructive feedback.
• Promote a team-oriented culture that aligns with company values and encourages accountability.
• Conduct performance evaluations and coaching sessions to support employee growth.
• Enforce company policies, attendance expectations, and safety protocols.

Process & Quality Management

• Ensure all machining processes are followed correctly and that operators adhere to best practices.
• Collaborate with the Department Leads to implement machining process improvements and resolve technical issues.
• Work closely with the Quality Team to ensure compliance with ISO 13485 and customer specifications.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the shop floor.

Tooling, Workholding, & Equipment Readiness

• Work proactively with the Department Leads to ensure tooling, work holding, and fixtures are prepared in advance of production start times.
• Ensure that machine maintenance and preventative upkeep are performed as scheduled.
• Support operators in troubleshooting machine-related issues and coordinate repairs when needed.

Safety & Continuous Improvement

• Enforce safety policies, including the proper use of PPE, machine guarding, and workplace cleanliness.
• Lead initiatives to improve shop organization, efficiency, and productivity using Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Track and analyze key production metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Qualifications & Skills:

• 8 years of experience in a manufacturing or machining environment, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong technical understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and process optimization.
• Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment (Medical Device/ISO 13485 or similar preferred).
• Ability to analyze and improve production workflows and identify inefficiencies.
• Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems for production scheduling and resource planning (JobBOSS or similar is a plus).
• Working knowledge of CNC programming, G-code, and CAD/CAM software is preferred.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach to leadership.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
