What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swing Shift Driver position at Mountain Contractors Supply Group?
A swing shift at Mountain Contractors Supply Group (MCSG) is a shift that starts in the afternoon and runs into the evening. It is not a graveyard shift. This shift can vary by location but will typically fall between 1:00pm to 10:00pm. Currently, all swing shift positions are various warehouse roles.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure a high level of customer service is always provided
Prepare the truck for operation by assisting in and overseeing the loading of trucks, securing items, and verifying the accuracy of shipping papers
Unload products in a neat and orderly manner at other branch locations
Maintain general understanding of products
Complete vehicle inspections: inspect truck tires, lights, brakes, fluid, etc. to ensure safe and cost-effective performance with preventive maintenance in mind
Deliver orders via the most effective route and ensure complete orders that are delivered in established time frames
Maintain communication with the company during deliveries to ensure any updated instructions are received
Maintain and monitor the truck maintenance and driving records
Maintain a safe driving record that is free of violations
Operate the forklift to move, unload, or hoist all inbound and outbound shipments from all the trucks
Comply with DOT and OSHA Requirements
May assist in maintaining a clean/orderly warehouse and yard
Perform other various duties, as outlined by supervisor
Exude, understand, and demonstrate actions according to the Company’s core values. These core values are courage, commitment, collaboration, compassion, ownership, and optimism
Qualifications and Physical Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Willingness to participate in pre-employment and random drug screenings
6 months experience driving medium size truck (under 3 tons, usually 4 wheels)
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Ability to drive and maintain alertness for long periods of time; including driving in the dark
Ability to work in excessively hot and cold conditions due to the outside environment of various duties
Maintain a clean driving record
OSHA regulated Steel Toe Shoes: Either an ASTM F243 M/I/50/C/50 or ANSI Z41 PT M/I/50/50. Or an ASTM F2413 F/I/50/C/50 or ANSI Z41 PT F/I/50/C/50
