JOB SUMMARY:

The CSU Manager establishes, administers, and manages residential crisis stabilization unit and medically managed withdrawal programming, providing services to identified individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders in a short-term, sub-acute crisis stabilization unit. Assists individuals to achieve and maintain stability in an effort to promote recovery and meet the program goal of reducing reliance on more restrictive inpatient services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Maximum of Eight)

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), including coordination of all clinical services. Lead organizational and treatment planning meetings, evaluate the status of consumers and facilitate appropriate planning and coordination of treatment activities to ensure immediate attention to changing needs, as well as work with program employees and administration to create and maintain a therapeutic milieu.
  • Facilitate referral/admission process to CSU to ensure maximum utilization of beds possible in accordance with the expectations of the Agency and the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
  • Work in coordination with psychiatrist/prescriber as well as nursing and clinical staff to ensure that individuals' identified treament needs are adequately addressed.
  • Moniter/supervise records management assuring compliance with agency policies and Medicaid as well as other third party payment requirements. Obtain authorizations for payment through third party payor sources.
  • Provide training and support as needed to program employees as well as to Agency staff as required.
  • Develop and maintain program policies and procedures that continue to adequately describe the intended function of the CSU, meet its' intended goals, and ensure a framework of practice that can be implemented and clearly followed by CSU employees.
  • Attend any administrative and state level meetings that are relevant to the CSU program and its' identified goals.

OTHER DUTIES: (If Applicable)

  • Must complete the agency’s evidence-based training designed to help teams reduce crises, minimize restraints and injuries, and preserve the dignity of individuals served, including approved manual hold techniques.Perform such other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong clinical skills and experience providing treatment to persons with mental illness and substance use disorders.
  • Supervisory and program management experience.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:

Crisis Counselor III preferred: Must have educational attainment of a Master's or Doctoral degree with an associated professional license

OR

Educational attainment that would be required for the following:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist (LCP)
  • Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Clinical Nurse Specialist
  • MD/DO

The following Master's degrees are deemed to meet the above requirements:

  • Master of Social Work
  • Ph.D. or Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D) in clinical or counseling psychology.
  • A clinical degree in counseling from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

Crisis Counselor II: Licensed eligible – Must have educational attainment of a Master’s degree with residency approved by the Board of Counseling. This proof of residency can be obtained from the Board of Counseling after clinical supervisor is assigned post hire or prior to beginning of employment if clinical supervisor is outside of the agency.

Educational attainment that would be required for the following:

  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) - eligible
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) - eligible
  • Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) - eligible

The following Master's degrees are deemed to meet the above requirements:

  • Master of Social Work
  • A clinical degree in counseling from a program accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP)

Valid driver's licnese with safe driving record required.
