What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Design Engineer position at Motive Workforce?
Electrical Design Engineer | High-Performance Vehicles
Hands-On Hardware • Wire Harnesses • High-Voltage Systems
Location: Santa Clarita, CA
Type: Year to year contract job
If you’re an Electrical Design Engineer who wants to see your designs become real hardware, this role puts you at the center of motorsport high-performance vehicle development. You’ll work hands-on across electrical architecture, wire harnesses, high-voltage systems, and prototype builds, collaborating closely with mechanical, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
This is not a siloed CAD role. You’ll be involved from concept through build, test, and early production, owning real systems on real vehicles.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Design and develop electrical components, subsystems, wire harnesses, and high-voltage systems
- Create 3D/2D electrical designs using CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE
- Perform engineering calculations to meet performance, cost, and manufacturability goals
- Support prototype builds, assembly trials, and manufacturing activities
- Work directly with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
- Maintain BOMs, drawings, and engineering documentation; support DFM reviews
- Troubleshoot design and build issues and drive solutions to closure
- Participate in technical and cross-functional problem-solving sessions
- Travel as needed for supplier visits, testing, or track support
What We’re Looking For:
- 3 – 5 years of electrical design engineering experience
- (automotive, motorsports, aerospace, or similar preferred)
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- Hands-on experience with:
- Wire harness design
- High-voltage electrical systems
- Core electrical engineering fundamentals
- Proficiency with CATIA V5/V6 or 3DEXPERIENCE
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, create BOMs, and perform tolerance stack-ups
- Strong communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
- Willingness to travel for development and support activities
Why Engineers Like This Role:
- Your work goes directly onto high-performance vehicles
- Strong ownership from concept through build
- Close collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers, not just engineering
- Fast-paced development with visible results
- Ideal for engineers who want to stay hands-on and technically sharp
Salary : $40 - $55
