A fast-growing energy technology company is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to lead system-level architecture, requirements development, interface definition, and cross-functional integration for a commercial battery energy storage platform.
This role sits at the center of hardware, controls, firmware, and software teams. The right candidate will translate customer and regulatory requirements into structured system definitions and drive integration from product development through field deployment.
Responsibilities
System Architecture & Modeling
- Define and maintain system-level architecture for a grid-connected energy storage platform
- Develop functional block diagrams, system models, and performance budgets
- Lead technical trade studies across cost, performance, scalability, and reliability
- Support modeling and simulation activities for system validation
Requirements Management
- Own system requirements from customer use cases through subsystem allocation
- Establish verification and validation plans aligned to system requirements
- Maintain structured requirements traceability
Interface Definition & Control
- Define electrical, mechanical, software, and communications interfaces across subsystems
- Develop and manage Interface Control Documents
- Resolve cross-functional interface conflicts and integration gaps
Integration & Interoperability
- Lead system integration planning across hardware and software domains
- Ensure interoperability between BMS, PCS, controls, EMS, and third-party systems
- Support lab validation, pilot deployments, and commissioning
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with electrical, mechanical, firmware, software, and field deployment teams
- Act as the technical bridge between product development and field implementation
- Support customer-facing technical discussions as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 8 years of system engineering experience in energy storage, power electronics, grid infrastructure, or related industries
- Strong background in requirements definition and traceability
- Experience developing system-level architecture and integration plans
- Familiarity with modeling tools such as MATLAB, Simulink, or similar
- Experience with power systems, inverters, BMS, or distributed energy systems preferred
Preferred Experience
- Battery energy storage systems or microgrid platforms
- Field deployment or commissioning support
- Knowledge of UL, NEC, IEEE, or related standards
This is a high-impact role for an engineer who operates at the system level and can align multidisciplinary teams around a cohesive product architecture.
Salary : $150,000 - $195,000
