About the Role
A well-established commercial construction and development firm in Southern California is seeking a seasoned Construction Sr. Accounting Manager to help refine and expand its operational platform. This is a fast-paced, multi-entity environment where you'll oversee the financial operations of 13 diverse entities - including construction & development, property management, hospitality, and restaurants.
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, hands-on leader with California construction accounting experience who thrives on accuracy, process improvement, and collaboration. You'll manage the accounting team, work closely with project management, and partner with principals to ensure financial integrity, compliance, and strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Oversight: Manage accounting operations, produce financials, oversee cash forecasting, intercompany reconciliations, audits, and tax reporting.
- Construction Accounting: Handle job costing, WIP schedules, prevailing wage/certified payroll, subcontractor payments, ERP (Sage 300 CRE/Timberline).
- Property Management Accounting: Oversee financial packages for multiple properties, budgets, billings, tenant credit, property tax, and insurance renewals (Yardi Breeze).
- Hospitality Accounting: Manage QuickBooks/Toast systems, payroll, pooled tips, inventory valuations, sales tax reporting, license renewals.
- Human Resources & Administration: Lead HR functions (benefits, 401k, compliance), maintain OSHA 30, oversee HRMS (BambooHR) and timekeeping (Exaktime).
- IT & Systems: Liaise with MSP/software vendors, negotiate contracts, oversee license management.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration: Manage Payroll, Staff Accountant, Project Accountant, and HR Generalist; collaborate with project management and executives.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $150,000 - $165,000 annually (W-2, full-time, exempt).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
- 7-10 years of accounting experience, including California construction accounting.
- Proficiency with Sage 300 CRE (Timberline) and advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Knowledge of California construction laws and compliance requirements.
- Experience with multi-entity financial management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Collaborative leadership style, comfortable in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Yardi Breeze, QuickBooks Online, Toast POS, BambooHR, Exaktime.
- Audit preparation and tax compliance experience.
