SDET / Hybrid / Chicago

A Chicago based financial technology firm is hiring a full-time Software Development Engineer in Test to support mission critical trading systems. This hybrid role requires three days onsite in Chicago and focuses on Java based automation, API testing, and high-performance trading platforms within the digital assets space.

This opportunity is ideal for an SDET who wants to work close to the core of a trading engine rather than staying focused only on UI testing. The team is looking for someone who enjoys deep system level testing, understands how trades move through complex platforms, and wants a real voice in how quality is defined and measured. Engineers here gain strong exposure to trading workflows, protocol level testing, and a fast-growing asset class while maintaining healthy work life balance.

Required Skills And Experience

• Strong experience writing automated tests in Java
• Hands on use of Cucumber and Gherkin for acceptance testing
• Experience testing APIs and distributed systems
• Understanding of trading systems or financial platforms
• bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field strongly preferred

• FIX protocol experience
• Exposure to capital markets or trading environments
• CI and CD pipeline experience
• SQL and data validation skills
• Experience working in fintech or digital assets
