A large public sector organization is expanding its digital accessibility program to ensure its websites, enterprise applications, digital documents, and online services provide an inclusive experience for all users. As part of this initiative, the organization is seeking an experienced Accessibility Subject Matter Expert to lead accessibility assessments, remediation efforts, compliance guidance, and training across multiple business units.

This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in digital accessibility standards, assistive technologies, and accessibility testing who enjoys partnering with technical and business teams to improve the usability and accessibility of critical public-facing applications and content.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 7 years of experience in Digital Accessibility, Accessibility Consulting, or a related field.
  • Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC).
  • Deep knowledge of WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA, Section 508, ADA Title II, and accessibility best practices.
  • Hands-on experience evaluating and remediating websites, enterprise applications, digital documents, forms, and multimedia content.
  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and compliance assessments.
  • Proficiency using accessibility testing tools including:
    • axe
    • WAVE
    • PAC
    • Adobe Acrobat Accessibility Checker
  • Experience testing with assistive technologies including:
    • JAWS
    • NVDA
    • VoiceOver
    • TalkBack
  • Strong understanding of accessible document creation for Microsoft Office and PDF content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical accessibility concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a collaborative environment.

  • Experience supporting enterprise accessibility programs or digital transformation initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with UX, product, development, QA, and content teams.
  • Familiarity with accessibility requirements gathering and user-centered design.
  • Experience creating accessibility standards, governance documentation, and operational procedures.
  • Experience developing accessibility training materials and delivering workshops.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, ARIA, and accessible web development practices.
  • Experience supporting accessibility compliance within large, highly regulated organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Perform accessibility audits for websites, digital documents, enterprise systems, multimedia, and online forms.
  • Evaluate content against WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA, Section 508, and accessibility best practices.
  • Identify accessibility issues and provide detailed remediation recommendations.
  • Partner with developers, designers, content creators, and business stakeholders to improve accessibility across digital platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance on accessible design and content creation standards.
  • Test digital content using assistive technologies and automated accessibility testing tools.
  • Create detailed compliance reports and track remediation progress.
  • Develop accessible templates, documentation, and best practice guides.
  • Deliver accessibility training sessions and office hours for internal teams.
  • Participate in project planning and requirements discussions to ensure accessibility is incorporated early in the development lifecycle.
  • Assist with accessibility-related inquiries and support continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
