Job Description
Instruction & Curriculum Implementation
- Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate PE lessons aligned with national/state physical education standards.
- Teach a variety of physical activities, including team sports, individual fitness, cooperative games, and wellness education.
- Promote lifelong fitness, health, and sportsmanship skills.
Student Engagement & Development
- Motivate and support students of all fitness and ability levels.
- Emphasize skill development, teamwork, and inclusion in all activities.
- Create a safe and respectful environment that encourages participation, confidence, and enjoyment.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Assess students' physical abilities, participation, and skill development using diverse evaluation methods.
- Maintain accurate student records and provide regular feedback on performance and behavior.
- Use data to differentiate instruction and support students’ physical and social-emotional growth.
Classroom & Behavior Management
- Enforce safety protocols and positive behavior expectations during all physical activities.
- Manage equipment setup and use, ensuring a safe and organized environment.
- Respond to injuries and incidents in accordance with school policies.
Collaboration & Professionalism
- Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and families to promote student wellness and academic success.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
- Support school initiatives, including wellness programs, sports clubs, or extracurricular fitness events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Health Education, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Physical Education (grades 6–8 or appropriate level).
- Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Knowledge of child development and physical education pedagogy.
- Experience teaching physical education at the middle school level.
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with inclusive practices, trauma-informed teaching, and adaptive physical education.
- Ability to integrate health and wellness education (e.g., nutrition, mindfulness, personal fitness planning).
- Enthusiasm for collaborating with students, families, and school staff to promote active, healthy lifestyles.
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $17.50 - $21.50 per hour
Expected hours: 3 per week
