What You'll Do
Strategic Partnership
- Serve as a key HR partner to Operations, R&D, and corporate leadership.
- Support organizational design, workforce planning, and headcount management.
- Provide data-driven insights to support decision-making and business strategy.
Employee Relations & Culture
- Act as the primary HR contact for employees and managers.
- Handle employee relations matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Support initiatives to strengthen culture, engagement, and retention.
- Coach leaders on communication, feedback, and team development.
Performance & Talent Management
- Manage performance review cycles and help create scalable frameworks.
- Guide managers through performance improvement plans and development plans.
- Support training and development efforts for technical and non-technical teams.
Recruiting & Onboarding Support
- Partner with hiring managers on job scoping and interview processes.
- Oversee onboarding programs that create a great employee experience.
- Help maintain consistency in job leveling, titles, and compensation bands.
HR Operations
- Support implementation and optimization of HR systems and workflows.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (California-heavy).
- Lead or assist with compensation reviews, benefits administration, and policy updates.
- Support pre-IPO readiness from a people and documentation standpoint.
What we are looking for
- 5 years of progressive HR experience, ideally with 2 years as an HRBP.
- Experience working in a startup, small company, or high-growth environment strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of California employment laws, employee relations, and performance management best practices.
- Experience supporting technical teams (Ops, R&D, Engineering, or similar).
- Ability to influence, coach, and partner effectively with all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable wearing many hats and building processes from scratch.
- Strong communication skills, high integrity, and a people-first mindset.
- Ability to operate with urgency, flexibility, and a high degree of ownership.
