About The Role
Morris and Dickson is seeking an Operations Manager who will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of operations during the build-out and establishment of a new state-of-the-art Distribution Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi. This role will evolve as the Distribution Center transitions through key phases: build-out, staffing, initial production, and full-line production. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in project management, team leadership, and operational excellence to ensure the Distribution Center becomes a high-performing hub within the company's supply chain network.

About The Role
Morris and Dickson is seeking an Operations Manager who will lead the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of operations during the build-out and establishment of a new state-of-the-art Distribution Center in Olive Branch, Mississippi. This role will evolve as the Distribution Center transitions through key phases: build-out, staffing, initial production, and full-line production. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in project management, team leadership, and operational excellence to ensure the Distribution Center becomes a high-performing hub within the company's supply chain network.
What You'll Do
Phase 1: Build-Out & Establishment
- Project Management:
- Oversee DC construction milestones, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
- Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to manage facility readiness.
- Systems Implementation:
- Partner with IT and logistics teams to implement Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and other technologies.
- Design workflows and processes for inventory management, receiving, and shipping.
- Have an on-site presence for equipment receiving and installation
- Operational Strategy:
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all operational functions that are effective for the new facility and considerate of our existing operations.
- Establish safety protocols in compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Talent Acquisition:
- Collaborate with HR to recruit, train, and onboard staff for key DC positions.
- Build a high-performing team aligned with company culture and operational goals.
- Initial Production:
- Manage and optimize operations during the ramp-up phase, focusing on efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), including order accuracy and cycle time.
- Operational Excellence:
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and cost-effectiveness.
- Implement Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes.
- Leadership:
- Lead cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals and maintain a culture of accountability and collaboration.
- Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
- Performance Management:
- Develop and track performance metrics, providing regular reports to senior leadership.
- Conduct annual reviews and develop succession plans for key roles within the DC.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance long-term planning with day-to-day execution.
- Leadership: Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify challenges and implement solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Adaptability: Thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with shifting priorities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or related field.
- 5 years of progressive leadership experience in distribution, logistics, or manufacturing operations.
- Be a qualified Designated Representative with the State Boards of Pharmacy in California and Florida.
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in new facility build-outs or large-scale operational launches.
- Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of Lean principles and process improvement methodologies.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or a related field.
- Certifications such as PMP, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or APICS certification.
- Experience working in the Olive Branch, MS, or Memphis metropolitan logistics markets.
