Description
The Banquets Bartender is responsible for preparing and serving beverages during banquet events in accordance with guest requests and company service standards. This position supports the success of special functions by providing efficient, courteous, and responsible beverage service while maintaining a clean and organized bar environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for guests during banquet functions.
Mixes drinks accurately and efficiently according to established recipes.
Provides drink service for cocktail servers and banquet guests with attention to detail and guest satisfaction.
Performs responsible alcohol service in accordance with TIPS certification and Morongo policies.
Draws draft beer or pours bottled beer (where applicable) and serves wine and spirits appropriately.
Accepts and processes guest payments, maintaining accuracy and accountability with transactions.
Conducts daily and weekly inventory of bar stock and notifies management of supply needs.
Cleans and sanitizes bar tools, glassware, and work areas to maintain cleanliness and compliance with health standards.
Provides high-level guest service, ensuring all guests are acknowledged and served in a courteous and professional manner.
Follows all safety and sanitation regulations during preparation, service, and clean-up.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong verbal communication and guest service skills.
Knowledge of beverage operations, including mixing techniques, service procedures, and responsible alcohol service.
Familiarity with inventory practices and bar cost controls preferred.
Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace while managing high guest volumes.
Must be able to work professionally with other departments and event staff.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Completion of bartending school or formal beverage service training preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of bartending experience in a banquet, catering, or high-volume hospitality environment required.
Proven knowledge of drink recipes, beverage service standards, and responsible alcohol service.
Experience setting up and breaking down portable bars, stocking supplies, and managing cash/credit transactions.
Familiarity with banquet event orders (BEOs) and coordinating with banquet captains or event staff.
Prior experience in a hotel, resort, casino, or large-scale event venue strongly preferred.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with a professional and friendly demeanor.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

Lifting and Carrying: Frequently lifts and carries cases of beverages, kegs, ice buckets, and bar equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; may require lifting above shoulder level when restocking or setting up bar stations.
Manual Dexterity: Constantly uses hands and fingers to pour drinks, handle glassware, open bottles, operate beverage dispensers, and complete transactions with precision and efficiency.
Mobility: Continuously moves behind the bar and throughout service areas; requires standing, walking, bending, and reaching for extended periods during service.
Stationary Work: Rarely seated; position requires prolonged standing while mixing and serving beverages and interacting with guests.
Tool Operation: Frequent use of beverage dispensers, blenders, ice machines, cash/POS systems, bottle openers, and other standard bar tools.
Visual Acuity: Requires close vision to prepare drinks accurately, read IDs, handle transactions, and monitor guest behavior for responsible alcohol service.
Working Conditions: Routinely works in fast-paced bar environments with exposure to loud noise, variable lighting, crowded spaces, and slippery floors. Regular exposure to a smoking environment while transitioning through casino or public areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that requires the ability to adapt and perform under pressure. The casino operates with moderate to loud noise levels and is a smoking environment, requiring team members to work comfortably in these conditions.
WORKING HOURS:
Morongo Casino Resort & Spa operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year; therefore, flexibility in scheduling is essential. Team members must be available to work shifts that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events. Schedules are subject to change based on business needs and may include overtime, as well as work on both weekdays and weekends.
