What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sports Coordinator position at MORONGO BAND OF MISSION INDIANS?
Under the direction of the Community Services Director, organize and direct the operations and activities involved in the Morongo Band of Mission Indians Sports program. Responsible for promoting the development and use of the sports program and facilities; serve as sports instructor and to implement, coordinate, and evaluate the program.
- Plan and prepare for future development of the sports program.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates sports programs and services.
- Evaluate individuals’ abilities, needs, and physical conditions, and develop suitable sports options to meet any special requirements.
- Counsels program participants to select and/or prepare and use the foods that will best nourish their bodies, taking into consideration physical, financial, social, and emotional needs, as well as personal preferences and cultural patterns.
- Develop needed sports education materials.
- Monitor and maintain all participants’ progress and participation records.
- Develop and implement sports-related workshops/courses as requested/needed for program participants.
- Assist with the preparation of the annual program budget; review and monitor budgets.
- Coordinates program purchasing requirements, analyzes and evaluates costs, and maintains a current inventory of all resources and equipment.
- Administer emergency first aid or CPR; refer the injured person to physicians.
- Prepares program monthly reports; maintains related records and files.
- Recommends program policies and procedures.
- Assure that safety standards and precautions are followed in all sports activities.
- Assure high quality service by interacting with program participants and responding to their comments and suggestions.
- Design, write, and distribute monthly informational flyers or newsletters promoting the sports program.
- Three years of professional sports program management experience or three years experience in a physical education teaching or group sport instruction role.
- Valid California Driver’s License.
- Current certification in CPR and First Aid.
