The Laundry Aide position ensures that all soiled linen and personal clothing is sorted, washed, dried, and returned to the proper location in a timely and orderly manner following proper infection control procedures.

What will I do in the role of Laundry Aide?

• Operate all laundry equipment in a safe and orderly manner and follow all written policies and procedures pertaining to laundry.
• Process all personal clothing according to the proper procedure and return it to residents' drawers and closets in an orderly manner.
• Sort all laundry by colors, material, fabric, and location to prepare for processing. Treat all stains accordingly.
• Wash all sorted laundry according to proper care instructions labeled on the items and follow procedures on the machine for type of load.
• Have knowledge of dry-cleaning procedures and be able to prepare and send out articles to be dry-cleaned.
• Operate presser safely and according to proper procedure; press all table linens, sheets, and pillowcases as required.

What do I need in the role of Laundry Aide?

• Excellent customer service relations along with demonstrating effective communication skills.
• Must be honest, reliable, and able to interact well with residents and other staff members.
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
• Knowledge of and experience in cleaning and sanitizing rooms to meet requirements.
• Willingness to learn new cleaning methods and how to use various pieces of equipment.
• Ability to adapt to different situations and change work processes to accommodate customer needs.
• Ability to work with little supervision and maintain a high level of performance.

Physical Requirements:

Must be physically able to walk, stand, bend, crawl, turn, stretch, kneel, squat and crouch, lift and carry up to 25 pounds, push and pull cart weighting up to 60 lbs., able to stand for long periods of time or be otherwise physically active up to an 8-hour period.  Must be able to tolerate exposure to cleaning supplies and unpleasant odors. Must have visual acuity to be able to keep assigned areas up to department standards.
