Senior Tax Manager / Senior Tax Accountant
Hybrid | $100,000–$160,000
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax professional to manage and support a broad range of corporate tax compliance, planning, and reporting activities. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage all corporate tax compliance activities, including preparation and review of schedules provided to external tax advisors, quarterly estimated tax payments, state apportionment filings, annual income tax returns, and tax accruals
- Partner with external tax advisors to ensure accurate, timely filings while maintaining strong internal oversight of the overall tax process
- Support tax planning initiatives and special projects, providing analysis and recommendations to improve tax efficiency and reduce risk
- Manage all Federal Excise Tax (FET) responsibilities, including payment processing, return preparation, audit support, and internal audits of exempt transactions
- Develop, implement, and maintain processes to ensure ongoing compliance with FET regulations and documentation requirements
- Research, evaluate, and implement available federal, state, and local tax credits and incentives for existing, new, and remodeled facilities
- Oversee all aspects of sales and use tax compliance, including exemption certificate review, maintenance, and validation in accordance with applicable tax laws
- Proactively manage exemption certificates by coordinating with customers to ensure documentation remains current and compliant
- Prepare and submit monthly sales and use tax returns and manage related payments
- Lead and manage sales and use tax audits, working to minimize exposure and resolve issues efficiently
- Review fixed asset invoices to ensure proper use tax accrual and compliance
- Support real estate and personal property tax processes, including assessments, payments, and appeals, in coordination with external service providers
- Evaluate tax risk across multiple legal entities and provide recommendations to mitigate exposure
- Support compliance related to business licenses, franchise taxes, vehicle inventory tax (VIT), battery tax, and local earnings taxes, including return preparation, payments, and accruals
- Contribute to continuous improvement of tax processes, documentation, and internal controls.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in Accounting with a tax emphasis preferred
- Experience in corporate tax or public accounting, with increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and its application to tax accounting and reporting
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, reconciliations, and analytical schedules.
- CPA certification preferred
- Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
