Cost Accounting Manager
A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Manager, Cost Accounting to oversee all aspects of cost accounting while serving as the primary financial partner to production, purchasing, engineering, and operations. This individual will play a key role in product costing, inventory valuation, manufacturing analysis, financial reporting, and process improvement while leading a small accounting team. This is a highly visible position that partners across the organization to support operational and financial decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Lead all cost accounting activities, including product costing, inventory valuation, standard costing, and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Analyze inventory, standard costs, and production variances to ensure accurate monthly financial reporting.
- Monitor and maintain standard cost structures and recommend updates as needed.
- Review product costs and pricing to ensure appropriate cost-to-price relationships.
- Oversee job costing for both current and completed production.
- Prepare inventory and job costing schedules for the annual audit.
- Develop reporting and analysis to identify cost improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies.
- Partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and operations to support business decisions.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls related to inventory and cost accounting.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and improve financial reporting.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop a small cost accounting team.
- Assist with special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Previous management experience is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience with a strong background in manufacturing cost accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and manufacturing operations.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
- Proven ability to identify process improvements and drive operational efficiencies.
Salary : $100,000 - $115,000
