The Lower Elementary Teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, nurturing, and growth-oriented classroom environment that reflects Montessori principles and standards. The ideal candidate is a certified elementary educator who is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of children within a thoughtfully prepared Montessori environment.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated educator who values independence, hands-on learning, meaningful relationships, and individualized instruction. The successful candidate will demonstrate confidence in leading a classroom while remaining attentive and responsive to the unique needs, interests, and developmental stages of each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom in alignment with Montessori principles and best practices.
- Plan and facilitate engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and learning experiences.
- Provide individualized instruction and support based on each student’s academic and developmental needs.
- Foster independence, responsibility, problem-solving, and collaboration among students.
- Maintain a peaceful, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Observe and document student progress and communicate effectively with families regarding student development.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support student success and maintain a strong school community.
- Prepare and maintain an organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and purposeful work.
- Establish consistent classroom routines, expectations, and positive behavior practices.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, school events, and other community activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Montessori training or certification is required
- Current elementary teaching certification is preferred
- Strong understanding of child development and elementary education.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, colleagues, and school leadership.
- A warm, patient, respectful, and growth-oriented approach to working with children.
- Commitment to Montessori philosophy and the development of the whole child.
