About the Role
Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Credit Analyst to join the team in our Commercial Lending Group. As a Credit Analyst, you will deliver a World Class Experience by supporting the Relationship and Portfolio Managers in managing the day-to-day credit processes and performing analytics necessary to support prudent lending decisions. The Credit Analyst is responsible for gathering and reviewing financial information, preparation of financial spreads and analysis for both client and prospects. The Credit Analyst may be required to provide direct customer contact under the guidance of a Portfolio Manager. As a member of the Commercial Lending Group, the Credit Analyst supports the team in achieving its goals, including the growth of a portfolio, ensuring compliance with risk management and strengthening the customer relationships. You will be located in Goleta, CA with a fully on-site work schedule.
What We’re Looking For
- A college degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, or related subject required; or any combination of equivalent education, training and professional analytic work experience required.
- Minimum of 1 year up to 3 years of accounting courses consisting of a completion of 12 units required (Ex: the three intermediate accounting courses, income taxation, managerial accounting, and cost accounting.
- Completion of a financial statement analysis course required.
- Proficiency in Principles of Financial Accounting required.
- Prior banking experience preferred.
Your Responsibilities
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare and analyze financial spreads for business and personal tax returns, various financial statements, and supporting schedules utilizing a variety of software.
- Prepare template guided written financial analysis narrative for credit opportunities.
- Prepare supporting financial exhibits including SREOs, and K-1 schedules.
- Monitor CLG lending inbox for receipt of reporting requirements. Includes reviewing documents for completeness, filing, and updating system tracking records.
- Create new credit opportunity records, new client records, generate a note number, and run pricing calculations.
- Initiate renewal process via a needs list to the PM, transfer prior write up into credit memo, spread updated financials, and provide PM with a summary of material changes to credit or financial standing.
- Calculate financial ratios to determine if covenants are in compliance and inform PM and RM of any new violations that need attention.
- Initiate Annual Review process in collaboration with Credit Analyst team to identify scope per credit policy, establish individual assignments, set timeline for completion of phases, update CRE market metrics, and interface with Credit Administration to address focus points in the portfolio.
