The position of Senior Credit Analyst II is responsible for performing in-depth, thorough financial and collateral analysis and investigation of the credit worthiness of prospective and current clients, which includes ensuring that requested loans conform to Bank’s lending policies and procedures and generally accepted underwriting practices that are a necessary component of creating a safe and sound loan. Supports lenders in collection and analysis of loan application data; guides the loan underwriting process from the time when loans requests are assigned to the time they are approved and is typically responsible for analysis of the most complex credit requests; prepares credit related reports and summaries for presentation to loan officers and/or loan committee.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Primarily serves as credit analyst for various lenders and independently performs detailed credit analysis of complex credit requests utilizing financial spreads to determine financial strength.
- Evaluates business plans, projections, operating records, and financial statements.
- Effectively communicates information and analytical results to various lenders and senior management.
- Analyzes historical financial information and projections to determine present and future financial performance. Assesses credit situations from all relevant angles to derive appropriate credit recommendations.
- Review and identify risks/mitigants associated with 3rd party due diligence reports including but not limited to appraisals, construction cost analysis reports, industry reports, and environmental reports such as Veracheck’s and Phase I’s.
- Generates and compiles Credit Action Reports and Credit Memorandums to be submitted for Loan Approvals.
- Identifies loan policy exceptions, loan pricing deviations, and strengths and weaknesses of relationships; generates and recommends risk ratings.
- Interprets and applies Bank policies, governmental legislations, accounting theory, and/or consumer financial regulations.
- Provides general guidance and direction to other credit analysts.
- May participate on client calls and site inspections with loan officers.
- Responsible for assisting with structuring complex transactions, developing credit recommendations, and determining appropriate loan covenants and reporting requirements to monitor credit risk.
- Performs annual reviews required for complex credit relationships.
- Provides support to loan officers on specific loan situations and calls credit issues to their attention.
- May assist with special projects in the Credit Administration/Lending Departments as needed.
- Attend and take meeting minutes for Director’s Loan Committee and Management Loan Committee meetings.
- May assist loan officers with tracking and monitoring financial reporting ticklers and loan covenants.
- Become proficient in all underwriting aspects of Sageworks including spreading financial statements, pulling credit reports, generating Credit Action Reports, and utilizing Sageworks Workflows to ensure underwriting turnaround times are within the Bank’s internal service standards.

- Complies with Bank policies and procedures relating to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and Anti Money Laundering (AML) and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) guidance. Report suspicious activity to the BSA Department through a Suspicious Incident Report (SIR).

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field from a college or university and 5 to 7 years prior related experience and/or training in one or more of the following fields: commercial credit, accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, a combined minimum of 7 years higher education and/or work experience in financial industry, including 5 to 7 years prior related experience and/or training in one or more of the following fields: commercial credit, accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis.
- Proven advanced-level experience, knowledge, skills and training in lending activities, as they pertain to loan underwriting of complex commercial, consumer, construction, and real estate loans.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
- High level problem solving skills, organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently with general to minimal supervision.
- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple requests at the same time while effectively managing work schedule and work flow in order to complete work according to established or identified deadlines.
- Attention to detail, ensures accuracy in every transaction performed with minimal to no errors, follows through on any corrections.
- Must be highly competent with advanced skills in computer operation; Microsoft suite of applications, including, word processing, spreadsheet, specialty programs, loan software programs and financial software programs.
- Advanced math skills; ability to calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
- Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to communicate thoughts clearly and apply common sense to carry out instructions, write reports and correspondence, speak clearly and professionally to customers and employees. Must be able to communicate throughout the organization and to all levels of staff as well as external contacts.
- Knowledge of Bank products and services.
- Ability to deal with problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
- Valid, current Driver’s License and a vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required to drive in the course of performing assigned duties and responsibilities.
