Monte Cassino School seeks a dynamic, intellectually vibrant Middle School English teacher who is passionate about rigorous instruction, rich literature, and purposeful writing. This teacher will design and deliver a challenging, engaging English curriculum that develops students as critical readers, confident writers, articulate speakers, and thoughtful thinkers. - Design and implement a rigorous, standards-aligned seventh grade English curriculum that emphasizes close reading, analytical thinking, formal and creative writing, vocabulary development, grammar, and effective oral communication.
- Teach a literature-rich program that includes novels, short stories, poetry, nonfiction, and classical and contemporary texts.
- Develop writing instruction that includes narrative, expository, analytical, and persuasive writing, with consistent feedback and revision practices.
- Create a classroom culture that promotes inquiry, discussion, intellectual risk-taking, and a love of reading and writing.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs while maintaining high academic expectations.
- Assess student learning regularly and communicate progress clearly and professionally with students and families.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress, challenges, and opportunities for growth.
- Serve as an advisor and support students academically, socially, and spiritually in accordance with the mission of Monte Cassino School.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum alignment, school initiatives, and interdisciplinary projects.
- Participate actively in the life of the middle school community, including duties such as carline and lunch/recess supervision.
- Supervise and chaperone school activities, field trips, and events as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Four years teaching experience at the middle school level, preferably in English/Language Arts.
- Strong command of grammar, composition, and literary analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to design rigorous, engaging lessons and assessments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work at a desk and computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.

- Physical stamina to move throughout campus, including climbing stairs & standing for extended periods.
