Overview
We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Transportation Dispatch Supervisor to join our team in a critical leadership role within the school bus transportation industry. This position ensures the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of school children while overseeing dispatch staff and supporting the daily logistics of our fleet. The Transportation Dispatch Supervisor is also responsible for providing real-time updates to school districts, drivers, management, and managing logistics operations.
This position requires excellent communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to think quickly and make decisions in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment. It is essential to be able to multi-task, problem-solve, and use critical thinking with a passion for ensuring that transportation services run seamlessly.
What You'll do:
- Supervise and support the daily operations of dispatch staff
- Team build with ability to manage all types of personalities
- Coordinate, schedule, and monitor drivers for student pick-ups and drop-off on designated routes, for all types of school children
- Ensure timely arrivals and departures
- Monitor route progress and communicate real-time updates to drivers, schools, parents, clients and management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and schedules of drivers, matrons and students
- Serve as the liaison between departments from safety to dispatch, human resources and customers, handling any concerns or conflicts that arise
- Foster strong communication with school administrators, drivers, internal dispatch teams and management. Oversee logistical performance to ensure safety, compliance, and service excellence
- Make suggestions for improvements to transportation procedures and policies based on customer feedback and industry trends
What We’re Looking for:
- Experience in dispatch or logistics, preferably in school transportation or a similar field
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate staff
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Working knowledge of routing, GPS and transportation management tools preferred
