As a member of the ASC Leadership Team, the Program Outreach Coordinator will be the point of communication and organization between the ASC and specialized programs (i.e. Dual Enrollment). This role will participate in student support activities such as mentoring identified students to support university retention efforts, providing academic support, and connecting students to other services.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide outreach and coordinate activities related to specialized programs including availability of resources such as tutoring services, peer mentoring, and other support for students and instructors. Communicate with other programs as a representative of the ASC Leadership Team to provide updates and changesCollect and analyze data to improve effectiveness and how the ASC works with specialized programs (i.e. Dual Enrollment) effectiveness utilizing EAB Navigate 360, Canvas, and other data sources as applicableSupervising and providing a high-quality tutoring program, including online tutoring to ASC related programsCollaborate with faculty at UC and CC locations to ensure tutorial methods and access points support classroom procedures for students enrolled in special programsWorking with other ASC Leadership and program specialists to develop and implement workshops, programs, and materials to address students’ academic support needs, such as content area handouts, web pages and online tutorialsAssist the Retention Director in responding to notices provided by EAB Navigate, the University’s Early Alert System. Utilize tutors or otherwise connect with at-risk students identified through Navigate to deliver tutoring and/or referral services. Report results of contact to faculty, Advising, and document interaction for the ASCRaising awareness of the ASC by visiting classrooms, scheduling and conducting tours, presenting information at New Student Orientations and Registrations, supplying other university offices with information, attending meetings with other departments and university offices to represent the Academic Support Center and coordinating efforts to benefit studentsPresent information about the Academic Support Center to groups of SSS/TRIO, Veterans Upward Bound, Upward Bound, and other student services offices’ students and potential studentsServing as a tutor and mentor in the ASC providing support for students. Tutoring hours will be based on the needs of the program and as assigned by the DirectorPursuing professional growth activities to remain current in academic support and teaching methodologiesConduct other duties as assigned by the Director of the Academic Support Center.QUALITIES:The successful candidate will have the ability to:Effectively communicate the departmental mission to diverse constituenciesConceptualize and develop methods to implement innovative service enhancementsDemonstrate skill in presenting an excellent student/customer service attitudeProvide leadership in a technical, constantly changing integrated student services environmentPossess excellent communication skills including the ability to understand a wide range of user needs and technical issuesInteract effectively (listen, respect other opinions/needs) and negotiate with internal and external department staffRepresent the Academic Support Center and MSU Billings in a professional and courteous mannerStrong ability to communicate with students and othersStrong interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail and ability to work without supervisionAbility to be a positive and contributing member of a teamEducation Required:Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline, Education, or a related fieldExperience Required:Three to five years of successful experience in student support role(s)Experience working with a diverse population of students in an Academic Support Center or similar environmentDemonstrated knowledge of effective student success/academic support strategiesExperience working with students from diverse backgrounds, at-risk students, and students experiencing academic distressExcellent project management abilities, interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skillsAbility to deliver effective presentations to large, diverse audiencesProficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to effectively interact and develop relationships with campus partnersAttention to detailProven conflict resolution skillsExcellent program coordination skills, including demonstrated record of completing tasks on time and within budgetEducation Preferred:Master’s preferred in a STEM discipline, Education, or a related fieldExperience Preferred:Three to five years of experience working in higher educationExperience working in a learning center, tutoring center, or similar environment, to include evidence of at least two years of tutoring, mentoring, advising and/or other student success/academic supportKnowledge of collection and distribution of data to inform practice, improve organizational performance, and report preparation/analysisKnowledge of effective student success and retention strategiesDemonstrated experience in managing diverse personnel in a fast-paced, technical and deadline-oriented operationKnowledge of student development and learning theory and practiceSalary range of $45,000.00 to $50,000.00 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and qualificationsDesired Start Date
