What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Studies Teacher position at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School?
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum, Planning, and Assessment
●Teaches full-time to students in grades 9-12.
●Promotes the learning and growth of all students by providing high-quality and coherent instruction, designing and administering authentic and meaningful student assessments.
●Analyzes student performance and growth data, using this data to improve instruction, providing students with constructive feedback on an ongoing basis, and continuously refining learning objectives.
●Delivers instruction to students in accordance with the Curriculum Frameworks issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
●Design learning activities that will relate concepts and skills to the physical world and apply to vocational programs where appropriate.
●Develops lesson plans; maintains a weekly syllabus and a daily agenda.
●Takes part in curriculum development and revision.
Teaching All Students
●Promotes the learning and growth of all students through instructional practices that establish high expectations, create a safe and effective classroom environment, and demonstrate cultural proficiency.
●Provides individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and differentiates instruction when necessary.
●Accommodates the special needs of individual students.
●Establishes and maintains standards of student conduct to provide an orderly, safe, and productive environment for all students in the classroom.
●Grades and monitors student progress through the use of progress reports and report cards.
Family and Community Engagement
●Promotes the learning and growth of all students through effective partnerships with families, caregivers, community members, and organizations.
●Contact parents to notify them of students’ declining progress whenever necessary.
●Attends Special Education Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, where the teacher’s presence is required.
●Provides supervision and extra help to students where needed.
Professional Culture
●Promotes the learning and growth of all students through ethical, culturally proficient, skilled, and collaborative practice.
●Attends meetings as required by contract.
●Carries out other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a ten-month, school-year position (183 days).
Initial salary will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the Teachers’ Contract.
Fringe benefits as outlined in the Teachers’ Contract.
A criminal background check, including fingerprinting, is required.
The successful applicant must undergo mandatory ethics training and pass an online ethics test developed by the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.
