Monroe County Treasurer

The Monroe County Board is requesting any Monroe County citizen that may be interested in becoming the Monroe County Treasurer for the fulfillment of the current term through the end of 2028 to apply. Please complete and submit the following materials:

· Monroe County application, cover letter expressing why you are interested in the position, and a resume.

All applications submitted by candidates will be reviewed by the Monroe County Finance Committee following the October 22nd deadline. Those who are selected for an interview will be contacted at that time.

Our County Treasurer provides services to the County Board, Monroe County departments, auditors, other businesses, and the public in receipting, recording and accounting for money received including completing daily and monthly reports. The ability to work with accounting and payment information is essential in this role. In addition, the County Treasurer will be responsible for all duties as outlined in state statute 59.25.

What are the requirements to be considered?

· 18 years of age, US Citizenship, Monroe County Residency, Cannot be convicted of a felony in any court within the Unites States for which they have not been pardoned. (*see note below regarding misdemeanors).

*A 1996 constitutional amendment bars any candidate convicted of a misdemeanor which violates the public trust from running for or holding a public office. However, legislature has not defined which misdemeanors violate the public trust. A candidate convicted of any misdemeanor is not barred from running for or holding a public office until the legislature defines which misdemeanors apply.

The established salary for the remaining term is: 2025-$84,872, 2026-$87,418, 2027-$90,040, 2028-$92,741. Monroe County offers an excellent benefit package to include health, dental, term life, Wisconsin Retirement System, and more.
