Function of Position:
The Coordinator will report to the Program Director (PD). The coordinator will assist the program director with the coordination and facilitation of the academic and social services and program activities of the Upward Bound Classic and Math and Science Programs at Monroe Community College (UB @MCC). The Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the program director with the administration of the program at the Rochester City School District (RCSD) target schools and the Downtown offices at Monroe Community College.
- This is a temporary, grant-funded position that may be renewed annually, contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.
Examples of Duties & Responsibilities:
Primary Functions:
- Co-coordinate, facilitate, or provide program services including academic advising, personal mentoring, social-emotional learning, and career and college exploring.
- Coordinate the recruitment and maintenance of students at target schools.
- Co-coordinate the academic year tutorial component of the program.
- Co-coordinate the academic and social components of the summer program.
- Co-coordinating and chaperoning field trips to college campuses or cultural events.
- Provide one-on-one personal and small group career, academic advising, and mentoring to an assigned caseload of students at the target school.
- Collect and maintain statistical data as required by the US Department of Education for annual reports.
- Recruit, train, assign, and supervise advisors and mentors for the UB@MCC Program.
- Co-coordinate the college and financial aid application service of the program.
- Collate and document all advising and mentoring contacts.
- Assist the PD in coordinating the Parent and Family Initiatives.
- Work collaboratively and maintain ongoing relationships with other colleges, target schools, and community-based organizations, including Pre-Collegiate programs staff.
- Assume program oversight role in the absence of the PD.
Secondary Functions:
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Program Director.
- Must be available to work occasional evenings and Saturdays.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Earned a Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, education, or a related field is required.
- Three years of advising, mentoring, or teaching experience working in education programs with middle and high school students.
- Experience working with students from low-income, first-generation, diverse ethnic, or urban disadvantaged backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Earned a Master's degree in social work, human service, education, or related field from a regionally accredited higher education institution.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating academic activities and event programming for high school-age students.
- Demonstrated success in overcoming the academic and economic challenges faced by students in the UB@ MCC Programs.
- Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently.
Additional Information:
Salary: Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a beginning annual salary of $56,000 is based on the mentioned factors.
