- Actual Salary Is Dependent Upon Education, Experience and Contract.
- Assist teachers in providing instruction and supervision to high school students with disabilities in the Consumer and Family Science program.
- Work cooperatively with the Consumer and Family Science teacher and support staff to support student needs.
- Assist the teacher with implementing students' IEP (Individualized Education Program)
- Assist teachers in maintaining student records such as attendance.
- Other duties as determined by the classroom teacher or program administrator.
- Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certificate or NYS Teacher Certificate required, or willingness to obtain *See certification requirements below
- Experience working with students with behavioral/emotional disabilities and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Experience or coursework in Human Services and Family Studies, Food and Nutrition, Textiles and Design, or Consumer Skills, Resource Management and Career Studies, preferred.
- Training in individual and classroom management systems preferred.
- Training in Life Space Interventions/SCIP-R/TCI/CPI or similar systems preferred.
- Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation) including, but not limited to:
- Ability to use approved physical intervention techniques when necessary.
- Lifting and/or carrying.
- Standing, stooping, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, and/or reaching.
- Walking, running, and/or escorting students in multiple settings.
