Responsibilities
- Provide instruction for high school students preparing for careers in the field of Emergency Services and Firefighting.
- Individualize the program to meet the needs of students.
- Maintain student records, attendance, and required reporting documentation.
- Supervise and collaborate with assistant lab instructors and support staff.
- Maintain and continuously improve curriculum, course materials, and instructional delivery methods, including online learning components.
- Ensure program compliance with requirements established by:
- New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH)
- Monroe Community College (MCC)
- Program Medical Director
- Applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback on progress.
- Complete required end of course documentation for NYS DOH, MCC EMS administrative staff records, and MCC associated dual enrollment courses.
- Maintain the following certifications:
- NYS Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC)
- EMT - Basic
- Keep informed of changes, advances, and problems in the pre-hospital emergency care discipline
Candidates must possess:
- NYSED Emergency Medical Services 7-12 teacher certification or willingness to obtain
- NYS EMT or Paramedic certification
- Appropriate medical or allied health education, training, and experience
- NYS Emergency Medical Services Certified Instructor Coordinator (CIC) certification
- Experience teaching pre-hospital emergency medical care
- Demonstrate knowledge of the current National EMS Scope of Practice and National EMS Education Standards
- Associate degree in emergency medical services, fire protection technology, education, health science, public safety or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Experience in teaching or knowledge of fire behavior and combustion
- Current American Heart Association as a Basic Life Support (BLS) instructor certification
- Bachelor degree in emergency management or fire sciences from a regionally accredited institution of higher education
- Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
Salary : $49,470 - $79,820
