What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Mold-Rite Plastics?
SUMMARY: The Machine Operator aligns with manufacturing operations to achieve optimal production efficiency and effectiveness in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission and vision of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Startup/shut down and basic troubleshooting/running of auxiliary equipment.
- Perform color changes and job changes according the production schedule.
- Validating parts for quality (flash, short shots, color, quantity, etc.).
- Complete computer data entry, inspection logs and other documentation as required.
- Remove all finished goods product boxes from cell and neatly stack on pallet.
- Identify each box with production label and scan into IQMS system.
- Maintain work areas and the general operation area in accordance with SAFE and GMP standards.
- Works with minimal supervision in the assigned work cell and communicate with the team to escalate problems if needed according to the existing procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects.
- Fill, pack, lift, and stack shipping cartons with a final weight of approximately 50 lbs.
- Change liner rolls weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Follow all applicable guidelines and standards including but not limited to policies, procedures and practices.
- Follow all safety guidelines always and take a proactive approach by supporting the Near Miss Program to maintain safe working conditions.
- Maintain familiarity with MSDS and other regulated material information, requirements and guidelines.
- Maintain a professional, polite and courteous team approach in dealing with others and work in teams as required or requested.
- Assist during shift changes to ensure a smooth transition from crew to crew.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- 1-3 years of experience related to Injection Molding/Packaging is preferred, but not required.
- Must be dependable; meaning on time and present on every scheduled work day.
- Must be able to work a rotating schedule 2-2-3, consisting of 12 hour shifts from either 6:45am-7:00pm, or 6:45pm-7:00am.
- Ability to work independently as well as working with others effectively as a part of a team is essential.
- Good verbal & interpersonal communication skills; ability to work well in group situations; ability to deal effectively with conflict in mature & consistent manner.
- Flexibility to work voluntary overtime if asked.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lb. cartons on a regular basis.
- Beginner level computer experience with focus on data entry and keyboarding, handheld computers and basic familiarity with Microsoft Outlook.
- Ability to differentiate color including multiple and varying shades of same or similar
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
No specific requirements in this area.
FOOD SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and verify activities to ensure that finished goods and raw materials coming in and out of the facility meet food safety standards in addition to quality standards.
- Verify all food contact areas are safe from any contaminants after repairs are made and record verification activities on the work order log.
- Ensure visual inspections are conducted on finished cartons of product checking for any quality non-conformances and signs of product contamination.
- Comply with all company food safety and quality assurance procedures and data documented correctly at all times.
- Report any product or process failures that could impact food safety of manufactured product to Quality.
