Molariti, Inc. is seeking a Scientist / Senior Scientist, Molecular Biology to build and lead our analytical biology capability for nucleic acid and lipid nanoparticle characterization. This is a highly hands-on leadership role based on-site at The Engine, 750 Main St, Cambridge, MA, responsible for developing the biological assays and workflows that turn a fundamentally novel measurement into a reliable analytical method. We are looking for an accomplished molecular biologist with experience at the intersection of molecular biology, analytical development, and engineering, who enjoys the challenge of building new capabilities, working in interdisciplinary environments, and making an impact on healthcare in a fast-paced startup.

Key Responsibilities

Molecular Biology & Assay Development

  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of new assays and analytical methods for quality assessment of DNA, RNA, and LNPs on the Molariti platform, from concept through performance characterization.
  • Design and execute experiments, generate high-quality experimental datasets, and use quantitative analysis to drive method development.
  • Troubleshoot biological and assay-performance challenges and independently identify paths toward resolution.
  • Oversee and mentor Junior Scientists or Research Associates, including experimental planning, training, troubleshooting, and review of results.
  • Balance hands-on experimentation with scientific leadership and project management.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Work closely with engineering and software teams to integrate hardware, automation, data pipelines, and analysis tools into product workflows.
  • Communicate biological constraints, experimental results, and analytical requirements clearly to non-biological technical teams.
  • Engage with scientific and industry collaborators, potential customers, investors, and key opinion leaders to inform product requirements and validation strategy.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging analytical and molecular biology approaches relevant to project goals and identify opportunities for product improvement.

Qualifications

Required

  • PhD in life sciences or a related field, with 2 years of post-PhD research experience, academic or industry; 5 years for the Senior Scientist level
  • Candidates without a PhD are considered with 8 years of relevant industry experience
  • Expert in DNA, RNA, and LNP handling and characterization
  • Experience developing assays from concept through optimization and performance characterization
  • Strong experimental design, data analysis, and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, software, and business teams

Preferred

  • Prior industry experience in analytical development, Quality Control, or nucleic acid therapeutics manufacturing
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior scientists or research associates
  • Prior experience presenting scientific information to customers, collaborators, investors, or key external stakeholders
  • Experience qualifying or validating analytical methods against established reference techniques
  • Startup experience

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to shape the scientific direction of a breakthrough platform company
  • High-impact leadership role with visibility across the company
  • Ability to grow and lead a team while remaining deeply connected to the science
  • Equity participation with meaningful upside
