National Account Manager
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Compensation: Competitive Base Salary Bonus Opportunity
Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days in-office / 2 remote when not traveling
We are partnering with a growing and well-established food manufacturing organization seeking an experienced National Account Manager to lead and expand strategic customer relationships across national distributors, foodservice operators, and retail channels.
This role is ideal for a high-performing sales professional with strong experience managing large national accounts within the CPG, foodservice, or retail industries. The ideal candidate will bring a consultative sales approach, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to drive revenue growth through strategic account development.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and grow relationships with key national distributors, foodservice operators, club accounts, and strategic partners
- Drive sales growth by identifying expansion opportunities within existing accounts and developing new business opportunities
- Negotiate pricing, promotional programs, and customer agreements to maximize profitability and market share
- Partner with distributors to support product placement, inventory management, and execution of sales initiatives
- Lead joint business planning sessions and regular account reviews with key customers
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, finance, supply chain, and operations teams to support customer needs and service levels
- Manage and support broker relationships to ensure alignment with company goals and sales objectives
- Assist with trade spending, promotional budgets, deductions, and forecasting
- Analyze sales trends, customer performance, and market data to support strategic decision-making
- Represent the organization at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field preferred
- 5 years of National Account Management experience within CPG, foodservice, retail, or related industries
- Proven experience managing large distributor and national retail accounts
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
- Experience working with distributor networks and foodservice channels
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and sales reporting tools
- Familiarity with category management and merchandising strategies
- Strong organizational and project management abilities
- Ability to travel as needed
