Electrical Purchasing Manager
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement and supply chain operations for electrical construction projects. This person will be responsible for sourcing materials, managing vendors, negotiating pricing, tracking deliveries, and making sure project teams have the materials they need on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Purchase electrical materials such as switchgear, conduit, transformers, wire/cable, and substation components
- Work closely with Project Managers, Estimators, and Field Operations
- Review drawings/specs to understand material needs
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and vendor terms
- Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships
- Track material costs, lead times, and delivery schedules
- Support bids by gathering pricing and availability
- Help control project costs and avoid delays
- Maintain purchase orders, supplier agreements, and procurement records
Ideal Background:
- 5–10 years of purchasing or procurement experience
- Electrical construction, utility, industrial, or infrastructure experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of electrical materials and suppliers
- Experience negotiating with vendors and managing project deadlines
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office and ERP/procurement systems
- Able to read construction drawings and specifications
Preferred:
- Utility, substation, transmission, or distribution project experience
- Union construction environment experience
- Knowledge of Northeast regional suppliers
