Position Overview:
The Night Bartender delivers exceptional guest experiences during evening and late-night service by crafting high-quality beverages, providing warm, efficient hospitality, and executing all closing duties to company standards. This role requires strong situational awareness, cash-handling accuracy, and the ability to thrive during high-volume service while upholding Moderna Bar & Pizzeria’s brand standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide welcoming, attentive hospitality to all guests seated at the bar and in service well areas.
- Prepare, garnish, and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to spec, consistently and quickly.
- Verify identification and ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with all laws and company policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar; set par levels; rotate product (FIFO).
- Communicate and coordinate with servers, expo, and kitchen to ensure accurate, timely orders.
- Operate POS accurately; manage tabs; process cash and card payments; balance and close cash drawer.
- Monitor guest intake; de-escalate situations; refuse service when appropriate; engage management/security as needed.
- Complete end-of-night checklists, side work, and bar inventories; report shortages, breakage, or maintenance needs.
- Comply with health, safety, and sanitation standards (local code and company SOPs).
- Assist with bar promotions, features, and upselling; maintain product knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktails.
- Protect company assets: follow key, cash handling, and security procedures.
- Model punctuality, teamwork, and a positive attitude; support training of new team members when assigned.
- Maintain full knowledge of the drink menu, food offerings, daily specials, and promotions.
- Support the bar and service team by assisting with food running, table clearing, or guest requests as needed.
- Maintain a polished appearance and positive attitude reflective of Moderna’s standards.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Minimum 1 year bartending experience in a full-service or upscale restaurant preferred.
- Must be TABC certified.
- Must habe a valid food handlers certification.
- Strong knowledge of classic and house cocktail builds, beer, wine, and spirits.
- Accurate cash-handling; basic math skills; POS proficiency (training provided).
- Clear, professional communication; ability to de-escalate and manage difficult situations.
- Availability for evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to work evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Appearance & Conduct:
- Uniform must be clean, pressed, and properly fitted.
- Personal hygiene must be maintained at all times.
- Hair must be neat and pulled back if long.
- Cell Phone use during working hours is prohibited except for emergencies. Must have prior manager approval.
- No eating or drinking in guest view (except water per policy).
- Professional and respectful communication with guests, managers, and team membersis expected at all times.
- Arrive on time and clock in/out per policy; secure personal items in designated area.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting while performing bar duties.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment with high guest volume.
- Manual dexterity required for handling glassware, bottles, and bar tools safely.
