About the Family
A warm and welcoming family in Rye is seeking their first full-time nanny to join them as they prepare for exciting new changes. Their daughter is about to turn two, and they are expecting a new baby in December. They also have a friendly family dog, so a pet-friendly nanny is a must. The family spends summers in the Hamptons and is looking for a nanny who can live in with them for 2.5–3 months during that time.
A Day in Their Home
The family’s toddler spends a few hours each morning at nursery school. The rest of the day is filled with meals, playtime, and age-appropriate activities to keep her engaged and happy. Their home has a warm, family-centered rhythm, and with a new baby on the way, they are seeking someone who can help keep things balanced—supporting their toddler through this big transition while also caring for the newborn. During the summer months in the Hamptons, days are often more relaxed, with plenty of time outdoors.
The Role
The nanny will take on full care of both children, with responsibilities including planning fun and developmentally enriching activities, preparing meals and snacks, assisting with baths, and managing nursery school drop-off and pick-up. Light household duties related to the children—such as laundry and tidying play areas—are expected. A key part of this role will be creating a supportive, engaging environment for the toddler as she adjusts to becoming a big sister, while also providing gentle and experienced care for the newborn.
Collaboration & Family Dynamic
This is the family’s first full-time nanny, and they are looking for someone who will feel like a natural extension of their home. They value warmth, kindness, and open communication, and hope to find someone who will work in partnership with them as they grow into this next stage together.
The Ideal Candidate
The family is seeking a nanny who is:
- Experienced with both newborns and toddlers
- Warm, nurturing, patient, and kind
- Energetic, bubbly, and engaging
- Knowledgeable about developmental milestones and able to plan sensory and educational activities
- Pet-friendly and comfortable with a dog in the home
- Ideally, has a teaching or early childhood education background
Requirements
- Strong background in newborn and toddler care
- CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to become certified)
- Up-to-date on vaccinations
- Willingness to live-in during summers in the Hamptons
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Schedule, Pay & Benefits
- Full-time, Monday–Friday schedule with some flexibility
- Live-in required during summer months in the Hamptons (2.5–3 months)
