Position: CVICU RN - Nights

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cardiovascular Intensive Care Nurse (CVICU RN) for a night shift position in our 10-bed unit. This role requires recent open heart recovery nursing experience and the ability to care for immediate post-operative open heart patients on their first day.

About the Position

As a CVICU RN, you will provide critical care to patients in a high-acuity environment, including those recovering from open-heart surgery. Your responsibilities will include assessing and providing care for hemodynamically stable or predictably unstable patients within our cardiac medical surgical unit.

Organizational Relationships

• Receives direction from: Providers, Charge Nurse, ICU Director, and CNO


• Gives direction to: RN, LPN, CNA, Housekeeping Staff, Dietary Staff


• Works cooperatively with: Providers, Healthcare Professionals, and Allied Health Staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive physical, emotional, spiritual, and cultural support to patients.


• Administer care to a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and those requiring pre and post PCI care, pacemaker management, thoracotomy, and treatment for a range of medical conditions.


• Operate advanced medical equipment, including central lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, A-lines, and short-term ventilation support.


• Conduct skilled assessments and interventions for potential deteriorating conditions among patients.


• Manage discharge planning and the continuum of care from admission to discharge.


• Act as a clinical leader and assist in precepting staff members.

Minimum Education and Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• Degree from an Accredited Nursing Program

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Advanced nursing principles and procedures, specifically in critical care and CVICU settings.


• Ability to operate various medical and infusion equipment proficiently.


• Basic cardiac telemetry and EKG interpretation skills.

Licensure/Certification Required

• Current State of Montana RN Licensure


• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
