Position Summary
The Data & Estimating Assistant supports both the Estimating and Administrative teams by managing engineering data, assisting in supplier quoting activities, and maintaining organized records for customer jobs and proposals. This position serves as a key link between departments such as Design, Program Management, Purchasing, and Quality, ensuring smooth information flow and timely coordination across all phases of aerospace tooling projects.
This role is ideal for a college student, recent graduate, or early-career professional interested in aerospace manufacturing, project coordination, or supply chain management.
Essential Functions
- Download, organize, and upload engineering data from customer portals, FTP sites, and secure networks.
- Maintain and update project and quote directories with the latest tool designs and revisions.
- Assist estimators with reviewing bills of material (BOMs), preparing RFQs, and comparing supplier quotations.
- Record and track supplier pricing and performance data to support future estimating efforts.
- Create, update, and format cost-tracking spreadsheets and summary reports for internal use.
- Support program managers and design leads by transferring, logging, and verifying project data revisions.
- Plot drawings, extract BOMs, and format data files for use by Quality, Design, or Estimating.
- Assist in document control and ensure compliance with ITAR and cybersecurity standards for all customer and internal data.
- Provide backup assistance in administrative functions such as opening new jobs, preparing shipping paperwork, or supporting purchasing and quality documentation.
- Maintain punctual attendance and perform overtime work as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Enrollment in or completion of a college program in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with multiple departments.
- Basic understanding of manufacturing or engineering principles preferred.
- Experience with CAD software (Catia V5) or RFQ processes is a plus but not required.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and may periodically work within the manufacturing facility. Standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and plotters are used regularly. Occasional remote work may be permitted with prior approval.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and move objects up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, and color vision, as well as depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
