What are the responsibilities and job description for the AI/Data Intern — Product & Sales Automation position at MOD - Power & Lighting Solutions?
At MOD, we build the power infrastructure behind modern workspaces — in-surface, on-surface, under-surface, and daisy chain solutions trusted by commercial clients across the country. We move fast, we give our people real ownership, and we don't hire interns to make coffee.
We're looking for one technically sharp AI/Data Intern to take on a project that will directly change how our sales team operates: building an AI-powered quoting tool for our Vine Power Daisy Chain program.
The problem you're solving: Customers send us drawings and written descriptions of table layouts and request custom Vine Power Daisy Chain configurations. Our sales team manually interprets every request — calculating power loads, cable lengths, hub types, and compatible SKUs. It's time-consuming, complex, and ready to be automated. That's your project.
What you'll own:
- Design and build an AI-assisted quoting tool that reads customer layout inputs and outputs a recommended Vine Power configuration with accurate product and pricing data
- Encode MOD's Daisy Chain product logic — power requirements, cable length constraints, and configuration rules — into the tool's decision engine
- Build dashboards in Monday.com and/or Excel to track quoting volume, turnaround time, and accuracy improvements
- Support platform maintenance and data hygiene across our sales tools
- Present updates and outcomes directly to EVP-level leadership
What we're looking for:
- Currently enrolled or recently graduated in CS, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with Python or a comparable language
- Strong analytical and systems thinking — you can take an ambiguous real-world problem and structure it
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own deliverables
Bonus points:
- Familiarity with CPQ logic, Excel modeling, or Monday.com
- Prior experience building automation tools or product configurators
- Any exposure to hardware specs or electrical/power systems
