Pediatrics Nurse Manager - FT

JOB TITLE: Pediatric Nurse Manager
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for overseeing the clinical functions within the clinic, providing guidance and support to staff members, and maintaining high standards of patient care.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Practice Administrator & Physician Department Chair

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Staff Supervision & Development

• Assists in hiring, training, evaluating, and developing clinical staff.
• Supervises all nursing staff (excluding physician extenders).
• Conducts meetings and trainings with clerical staff.
• Ensures professional conduct and courteous patient care.
• Manages staff schedules, payroll, and leave (via Dayforce).

2. Clinical Oversight & Patient Care

• Participates in direct nursing care to support patient health and wellness.
• Maintains and enforces clinical protocols.
• Ensures quality care standards are upheld across the department.
• Coordinates with lab for proper supplies and Sunday coverage.

3. Operations & Quality Assurance

• Collaborates with the Practice Administrator and physicians to implement innovations and programs.
• Maintains confidentiality and ensures compliance with protocols.
• Orders, monitors, and tracks medical supplies, medications, and equipment.
• Reviews expiration dates and manages maintenance schedules.

4. Vaccine Management

• Private Vaccines: Orders, receives, logs, and stocks in coordination with designated staff.
• VFC Vaccines: Same duties as private vaccines, plus monthly counts and state audit preparation.
• Manages purchase ordering system entries for all vaccine deliveries.

5. Compliance & Certification

• Supports VFC certification and compliance with state audit requirements.
• Maintains proper documentation for vaccine storage.

EDUCATION: High school diploma; RN or LPN preferred.
EXPERIENCE: At least three (3) years of pediatric clinical experience preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPENTENCIES:
1. Knowledge of clinic policies and procedures.
2. Skill in dealing effectively with personnel development and issues.
3. Skill in medication administration, infection control, safety and confidentiality policies by effectively role modeling appropriate behavior.
4. Skill in planning, organizing, and delegating.
5. Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
6. Maintenance of nursing license and Basic Life Support certification.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in an office environment and involves frequent telephone and in-person communication. The role requires regular interaction with others, often in a fast-paced and interruptive setting. Physical activities may include walking, bending, reaching, lifting up to 20 pounds, stooping, and prolonged periods of sitting. Occasional exposure to stress may occur due to multiple, competing responsibilities.
