Maintains open communication with Manager, Surgical team, Anesthesia team, and other members of the interdepartmental staff.
Assist Anesthesia staff in preparing proper equipment and supplies for patient care.
Assist during the procedure as directed by Anesthesiologist.
Requisition supplies properly and uses them with discrimination.
Anesthesia equipment and work area cleaned using proper technique and indicates compliance with Safety and Infection Control policies.
Cooperatively assists the O.R. and Anesthesia team members to provide a continuum of effective care.

Strength: Medium Work - Lifting, Carrying, Pushing, Pulling 20 - 50 Lbs. occasionally, 10 - 25 Lbs. frequently or up to 10 Lbs. constantly.
Stooping: Occasionally - Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Reaching: Frequently - Extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
Handling: Frequently - Seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands. Fingers are involved only to the extent that they are an extension of the hand, such as to turn a switch or shift automobile gears.

Accommodation: Occasionally - Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This factor is required when doing near point work at varying distances from the eye.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Must be a high school graduate. Medical background necessary.
Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician preferred.
Communication skills necessary to perform the job effectively: Ability to complete daily check lists. Able to share with surgery team plans necessary to develop and implement a plan of care for the patient’s well-being.
Work with the Physician’s team and staff and communicate with team members.
Share knowledge and information to other members of the surgical team and other health care team members.
Some computer knowledge.
Ability to complete daily check lists.
Communicate messages interdepartmentally and interdepartmentally.
Communicate during emergency and stressful situations.
Knowledge of departmental e-mail usage.
Ability to lift and transport patients, provide assistance with proper positioning for patients and to assist with maintaining patients comfort and safety. ** Physical requirements: lifting, reaching, walking, carrying, pulling, pushing, and the ability to see and hear with or without mechanical aides.
Ability to concentrate and prioritize, plan and perform professional care, resolve patient care problems and interact with patients, families, surgical staff and other team members in a calm professional manner. ** Mental requirements: remembering, reasoning, understanding, and problem-solving capabilities.
Ability to perform operative procedures, lift and transport patients, provide proper positioning for patients; to provide treatment and to maintain patient comfort and safety. Must independently be able to respond to an emergency situation.
Ability to do repetitious duties without guidance on a daily basis.
Ability to prioritize activities.
Has understanding of the importance of medication usage, availability and accessibility to Anesthesia team during procedures.
Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal patient care environment under direct management of O.R. leadership and Anesthesia Department.
Exposure to patient’s diseases and secretions.
May be scheduled overtime, weekend and holiday hours.
May be exposed to potential hazards such as, chemical waste, body waste, fluids and other possible infectious materials. Exposure to noise, dust and chemical disinfectants.
Majority of work time is spent standing, pushing, walking, etc.
Subject to certain distasteful patient care activities and exposure to communicable diseases, and other illness or diseases.
May have exposure to chemical, X-ray, disinfectants and other hazardous products.
