Strategic HR Director - High-Growth Mid-Size Contractor

Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to build, lead, and scale the HR function. This is a strategic and operational role responsible for the oversight over full HR spectrum: recruiting, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, payroll, benefits, performance management, and people strategy.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and scale the HR function across compliance, employee relations, onboarding, performance management, and benefits, managing an HR Manager
- Design and own the onboarding program for field and office employees
- Co-develop the performance management framework with the CEO and drive consistent execution across all departments
- Serve as escalation point for complex employee relations matters, investigations, and disciplinary actions
- Ensure compliance with employment law and construction-specific regulations (OSHA, Davis-Bacon, OCIP/CCIP, FLSA)
- Own benefits strategy and administration, including annual renewals in partnership with Finance
- Build HR systems and infrastructure that support the company's growth toward $100M in revenue
Qualifications
- 7–12 years progressive HR experience, including senior leadership
- Construction or specialty contracting experience in a field-based/ blue-collar environment
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and industry regulations
- Proven ability to build scalable HR processes and systems
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
